Used VGA and SVGA Color Monitors still have a lot of life left
in them. Are you wondering why someone will need a used monitor?
Here are some of the reasons why used and / or refurbished
Monitors or as some people like to call them 'Display Units' are
still going strong:
Most 486, Pentium and Pentium II systems will still work
with the older used monitors.
Pre-Owned Monitors are cheaper, roughly 1/4th the price
of a new monitor.
On used and refurbished monitors, the colors are still
adequate for most applications.
Used monitors are excellent for training systems. An
older monitor gives good enough resolutions for most
training courses, be they in computer training or some
other profession.
Used color monitors are more than adequate where a
computer is being used primarily for typing /
word-processing.
A second hand monitor (screen) is good for standalone
applications like faxing, answering service or similar
applications.
A cheap used monitor is ideal for lab/workbench type of
environments.
As a display screen on a network station, a used monitor
is an inexpensive solution.
Most servers don't' need a high quality monitor, a used
one will do just fine and is much cheaper.
As a dumb terminal on a network connected to a 486 or
Pentium system. Much cheaper than buying a new terminal
and does the same job.
As the monitor on a a print server a used color monitor
may be a good deal.
Pre-Owned color monitors are well suited for e-mail
applications.
In short, if you are looking for a monitor in an application
that does not need real high end color quality and resolutions,
give used color monitors a serious look. They are a very good
investment for their price.
When looking for a used Monitor, don't necessarily look for
the absolute lowest price. See if the vendor offers some kind of
warranty. A couple of weeks at least would do. That gives you a
recourse in case you receive a monitor that is dead on arrival.
The absolute lowest price on a used color monitor may not a great
bargain if it does not work.
