Samsung Electronics, worldwide the number one manufacturer of COMBO drives, has launched the 52X Combo Drive, SM-352. The SM-352 is combining a 52x CD-RW and a 16x DVD-ROM drive into one mechanism (features are as follows: 52X (7.8MB/sec) CD-Write, 24X (3.6MB/sec) CD-Rewrite, 52X (7.8MB/sec) CD-Read, and 16X (21.6MB/sec) DVD-Read). This drive is the perfect solution for users of desktop PC’s with only one bay. To optimize recording performance under high speed, Samsung adapted partial CAV, which records the data at a high constant speed.

Like other CD-RW and Combo drives from Samsung, the SM-352 COMBO also has a 8MB buffer as well as a Buffer Under Run Proof technology. It also supports Mount Rainier technology. Samsung’s SM-352 is compatible with most writing software and supports writing modes such as DAO, TAO, SAO, Multi session, and variable/fixed packet writing. It also supports the following formats: DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-Video, CD-DA, CD-ROM, CD-ROM/XA, Video-CD, CD-I, Photo CD, CD-Extra, CD-Text and CD-RW 700/650MB (Type 80/74).
